This week we will be reading about Mascotas (Pets). Our objectives will be:

  • read various books about different kinds of pets to broaden our vocabulary
  • write about a pet you have or a pet you want
  • listen to Ms.Ivary read the book Mascotas peculiares de la Casa Blanca
  • focus on correct verb conjugations in our Vamos a Corregir and while reading with Ms.Ivary
  • use the reading strategy Main Idea and Details while reading

This week we will be finishing Chapter 13- Addition and Subtraction to 40 and we will begin Chapter 14- Mental Math Strategies. Our objectives will be:

 

  • Work on the Chapter 10-13 Review Packet in your workbook if you have time
  • mentally add numbers from 1-12
  • mentally subtract numbers from 1-12
  • mentally add/subtract tens from 2-digit numbers

Science

This week we will be learning about minerals.  Along with our weekly lessons students will be able to read books on minerals in Epic! books and have a science project to do.

Our objectives will be to:

  • identify common minerals in the earth
  • explain how minerals are used by people
  • understand that much of our knowledge of the earth and its history is the result of the work of many scientist

This week we will be learning about Thomas Jefferson and the idea of liberty and justice for all. Along with our lessons we will have several Epic! books to read and a project to do on Thomas Jefferson.

Our objectives will be to:

  • describe the contributions of Thomas Jefferson as Patriot, inventor, writer, author of the Declaration of Independence, and the third president of the U.S.
  • describe the roles of African Americans, Native Americans, and women during the evolution from thirteen English colonies in America to independence as a nation
