La Lectura
This week we will read about Comidas del mundo (Food from around the world). Our objectives will be:
- ready various books about Comidas del mundo to broaden our vocabulary (Epic! collection assignment)
- write about lunchtime at school. (Where do you sit? What would you normally eat? What are your favorite foods? )
- listen to Ms.Ivary read the book La Paloma encuentra un perro caliente!; answer comprehension questions after reading
- focus on using correct capitalization in sentences on our Vamos a corregir and while reading with Ms.Ivary
- practice continuing to use the reading strategy asking questions before, during and after. while reading this week (Who? What? Where? Why?)
Las matemáticas
This week we will be working on Chapter 17 Addition and Subtraction to 100. Our objectives will be:
- add a 1-digit or a 2-digit number with a 2-digit number without regrouping
- add a 2-digit number and a 1-digit number with regrouping
- add two 2-digit numbers with regrouping
- Subtract a 1-digit or a 2-digit number from a 2-digit number without regrouping
Science
This week we will be learning about fossils. We will learn about the role of paleontologist. There will be a several fossil books to read and students will have the chance to make their own fossil at home.
Our objectives are to:
- describe fossils
- explain how fossils provide information about the history of the earth
- describe how heat, pressure, and time cause many changes inside the earth
- understand that much of our knowledge of the earth and its history is the result of the work of many scientists
History & Geography
We will be learning all about the importance of the Louisiana Territory to the expansion of the United States. We will be learning about the role James Monroe, Thomas Jefferson, Napoleon, and France had in the Louisiana Purchase. Students will have the opportunity to do some mapping activities.
Our objectives are to:
- locate the Mississippi River on a map
- locate the Rocky Mountains on a map
- identify the Louisiana Territory on a map
- understand why Thomas Jefferson wanted to purchase New Orleans
- understand the significance of the Louisiana Territory and Purchase
