Rimas Infantiles

This week, we had a wonderful time with out Nursery Rhymes/ Rimas Infantiles unit. We worked with Itzi, Bitzi Araña/ Itzy, Bitzy Spider. There are several different versions so we thought we would share with you the exact one we worked with this week.

Itzi, bitzi araña

tejió su telaraña.
Vino la lluvia,
y se la llevó.
Salió el sol,
se secó la lluvia.
Y Itzi, bitzi araña,
otra vez subió.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

The itsy bitsy spider
Climbed up the waterspout
Down came the rain
And washed the spider out
Out came the sun
And dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider
Climbed up the spout again.

Playing with Spanish Rhymes, children explore the mechanism of language, while also building vocabulary and developing sounds. We did different activities related with the Itzi, Bitzy Arana/ Itzy Bitsy Spider Rhyme.  The students all had a great time singing this song (over and over!) while we did different spider crafts and activities.

Our letter focus for the week was the letter D, la letra Dd. Be sure to point out the letter of the week when you are reading. The English letter name is said as /dē/ while the Spanish pronunciation is; D (dā). Some of our special letter words this week were:

dedo/finger

dinosaurio/dinosaur

delfin/ dolphin

delantal/apron

diez/ten

dientes/tooth

We also focused on the number 10. How many different ways can your child from groups of 10? Different colored legos or blocks are great to use for this.
