This week we finished our unit on The five senses/ Los Cinco Sentidos. This week the kids learned about their body’s sense of hearing. They learned that we use our ears to take information about things around us. Like other skills that children learn, listening takes practice. So, we used listening games like listening to different instruments and sounds of music at various volumes. Kids heard sounds from different objects and then I asked them to name the object making the sound. They did great! I changed the volume from quiet to loud to demonstrate the difference. We sang los cinco sentidos y la arana pequenita while varying our volume.
We read the book Oso Polar, Oso Polar, Oso Polar ¿Qúe Es Ese Ruido? /Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? Through this book we had the opportunity to make a lot of animal noises: lion, sea lion, flamingo, zebra, elephant, leopard, and peacock. As well, we played games related to the unit like, guess the noise of things that we use in home (phone, timer, blender, vacuum, keys), and body sounds (clap, crying baby, hiccups, coughing, sneezing, drinking water, snoring). We also reviewed the five senses. The kids did a great job in this unit and really enjoyed it!!
LETRAS
This week we learned all about the letter Pp /la letra Pp. Be sure to point out the letter that we practice when you are reading. The pronunciation is just about the same in English and Spanish. (There is less air that comes out in the Spanish pronunciation but the sound is the same.)
pelota / ball
pez / fish
puerco / pig
pavo / turkey
pantalones / pants
plancha / iron
We did activities finding the letter Pp in the classroom, playing letters game, drawing, coloring and recognizing the letter Pp.
NÚMEROS
We continued working with the number 6 doing different activities, placing colored corn on the number 6/número seis, tracing the number and coloring six fish/seis peces. They traced the number six in sand, finding and coloring the number six with green color.
La Figura y Color
This week we continued working with triangle shape (triangulo), and green (verde) color. The kids played in the classroom, looking around for the triangle shape and green color. They played games making figures using different sizes of shapes with the circle/ circulo, cuadrado/square and triangulo/triangle.
Have a good weekend!
