Our package delivery days were an awesomely nice adventure. We went to Camas, Washougal, Brush Prairie, Richfield, South and East Vancouver. It was a good experience and the most beautiful thing that happened to us was to see the little ones, saying hi to us, some of them said hi through the window, others walked out to see us with hearts in their hands or something special for us. We are so proud to be their teachers. They are awesome kids and we are so greatful that you share them with us.
May is here and the new topic for th month is“ La Jungla/Selva” Unit. This coming week the kids will learn the jungle animals’ habitat. Millions of animals live in the worlds’ jungles, also known as tropical rainforests. The kiddos will learn the diversity of animal species that live in the jungle (mammals, birds, insects, amphibians and reptiles). In addition, they learned that the world contains many different jungles or rain forests, and the list of jungle animals would be different for each jungle. Also, the kiddos will learn the most common animals: elephants, tigers, lions, rhinoceros, monkeys, giraffes, snakes, crocodiles, bears, owls, hippopotamus. Through May we will teach them vocabulary, numbers, letters, shapes and colors. We will continue reading them books, sing songs and have our Thursday and Friday’s special day. Also, I will continue assigning them books in www.kidsa-z.com They can listen to the books on this site and see the words as they listen.

Here they can explore many English and Spanish books. They can also LISTEN to the books being read to them!! We have given them an “assignment” to listen to a few books. We will add more Spanish books here as we go along but they can also explore and listen to many books. This system is great because the words are highlighted as they read.

This was recommended as a resource with tips on how parents should talk to their kids about COVID-19, and gives some good advice like the importance of creating and maintaining routines.
(Tip: the intro is a big long. You can skip ahead to get to the good stuff!)
We are so happy that the majority of the little ones attended the Zoom class meetings last week. Thank you Parents for making it possible!
This week we will continue and finish with Dinosaurs unit. We are going to continue reviewing the vocabulary and add some new vocabulary for this week. The kids are going to learn about the T. Rex dinosaur. They will learn that the Tyrannosaurus Rex was a large, predatory dinosaur. It stood on two powerful hind legs and had a muscular body and tail. Its arms, compared to the size of its body, were tiny. T Rex had two claws at the end of each arm, and its feet had three claws, with a fourth located further up the foot. Its head was massive, and its strong jaws were filled with between 54 and 60 long, sharp teeth. T Rex had excellent binocular vision. This helps an animal gauge how far away something is – useful for a hunter. T Rex had a flexible neck, allowing it to make quick changes in direction in order to grab fleeing prey. T-Rex was a carnivorous.

This week we continued working with our “Dinosaurios” unit. We learned about the stegosaurus and how they are the most famous dinosaur from a group of dinosaurs known as Stegosauria. They were all herbivores (plant eaters) with a unique bone that developed into plates and spines along their back and tail. Stegosaurus was alive around 150 million years ago. The stegosaurus’ size was large and heavily built. On average, a fully grown stegosaurus was around 9 meters in length, 4 meters in height and up to nearly 5 metric tons in weight. Although the stegosaurus body was large, their brain size was only around the size of an orange. Their speed was around 5mph, and the stegosaurus also featured tail spikes. They had a great time learning about the stegosaurus dinosaurs. We also danced, sang songs, reviewed and learned new vocabulary:
Hueso-bone,
Fósil-fossil,
Cola-tail,
Cerebro-brain,
Pico-beak,
Plato-plate,
Columna-spine,
Pincho-spike
The kids did a god job with all our stegosaurus dinosaur activities, such as: stegosaurus dinosaur paper plate with the kiddos names on dinosaurs plate spine, cutting in zig zag and to the dinosaur, coloring the dinosaurs with the color the teacher indicates (red, blue, green, orange, and purple)
