Literatura
We worked quite a bit on writing this week. Students are working on writing paragraphs while being sure to stay on topic throughout. We also wrote invitations to our Mother’s Day celebration. We hope to see everyone on Thursday, May 10th at 2:15. (We have been working on a special song just for you!)
Our weekly learning objectives were:
- vocabulary: introduce diminutives – ito/ -ita, -illo/-illa, -ín/ina
- vocabulary: introduce augmentatives –azo/-aza, -ote/ota, -ón/ona
- how to form a paragraph when writing
Matemáticas
This week we graphed, graphed, and graphed! We practiced making a graph using a hug vinyl graph on the floor with fruits. We graphed favorite colors. We graphed boys vs girls in the class. We practiced gathering out data with tallies and then using that information to make graphs. We also jumped into double digit addition without regrouping and then moved right on to double digit addition with regrouping. We will continue with this next week.

History & Geography
This week we began our next unit on Frontier Explorers. We spent most of the week learning about the life of Daniel Boone and his role in opening the west frontier.
Our objectives this week were:
• locate the Appalachian Mountains on a map
• recall basic facts about Daniel Boone
• understand that Daniel Boone was a trailblazer
• understand what the phrase Wilderness Road refers to
Science
This week we finished our Astronomy domain. We had successful lift off on Space Day with the 2/3 class, enjoyed some space food, and took our unit assessment. On Thursday we began our next domain on The History of the Earth.
Our objectives were to:
• review and assess what we’ve learned so far in our astronomy domain
• identify geographical features of the earth surface: oceans and continents
• locate the North Pole, the South Pole, and the equator on a globe.
• describe the shape of the earth
• understand that much of our knowledge of the earth and it’s
history is results of the work of many scientist
English Word Work
This week we got our new sorts for spelling. Green group is working on long and short u . Blue group has a review of all the short vowels (they should have brought a copy of their sort home to work on), Red group is working on sh, ch, and he sounds.

In our journals we wrote about Daniel Boone, either facts about his life or a tall tale.
