Spanish Literacy

It was so nice to hear about the wonderful time students had during spring break! Everybody was excited to share their adventures and little pet rock books! How lovely! We spent this week reviewing expectations and getting back to our regular routine. We had time to reflect on our kindergarten journey and to how this spring is going to look like. I have a few projects planned that I will share with you all when the time comes.

The new theme for this unit’s literature studies was introduced: Perseverance. We will be reading stories that present this topic and will think about how we can apply this concept into our daily life activities.  We started reading a story, Tillie y la pared by Leo Leonni. Ask your child to tell you about it. We will continue analyzing this piece next week. Other objectives this week were to:

  • Organize into categories. Name an attribute.
  • Identify rhyming words.
  • Clap syllables in words. Try to spell 4 syllable words independently.
  • Apply reading comprehension and thinking strategies.
  • Understand sequencing of events.
  • Get familiar with transition words to explain the events in a story.
  • Practice reading their new book Las matas.
  • Practice spelling
