Language Arts & Math
We had a great time working on summer writing projects and the crafts to go along with our performance.
Each student read for the last two times this week. They received enough books to get them through the summer. (Reading about one new one a week.)
Your child will receive a booklet of summer work on Tuesday. These are little activities to help them stay sharp during the summer. They are supposed to be review (so no new concepts to trip them up during their independent work).
History & Geography
I can hardly believe we have arrived at the end of the school year! I have so enjoyed your kiddos and have loved watching each and every one learn and grow throughout the year. I am so proud of each and every one of my students. They should all feel very pleased with their accomplishments this year. It is always hard to say goodbye but it makes it easier knowing I will continue seeing most of them at school or around town in the years to come.
Science
The kids had fun doing some experiments this week. They wrote about them in their science journals. We talked about the scientific process of Observation, Question, Hypothesis, Experiment, Conclusion and Reporting Results. Ask your kiddo what their favorite experiment was.
We had some wonderful guest scientists perform a few experiments for our class! A big thank you to Dean and his mom and sister for sharing these with the class.
English Spelling
This week we finished up our “Crazy Color Creature” books. I hope you enjoy these at home as your child sings the catch tune to you.
*Over the next few days, we will be sending in a lot of the students’ work and supplies. It would be helpful if your kiddo brought an additional empty bag in addition to their mostly empty backbacks.
**Please make sure you have your child bring in any SWS library books they may have checked out over the past few weeks.
***Also, we are missing one or two class books. If you happen to have one of these, please send them in.
Art
We finished out the school year with a watermelon painting using tempera paint. The students all did a wonderful job painting big juicy watermelon slices! I have really enjoyed teaching this very fun and creative group of kindergarteners. They have created some fantastic art this year! Many, many thanks to Alora’s mom Stasia who has helped out every Wednesday throughout the year. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer. Keep busy drawing and painting!
