This week we finished with the unit “ Festividades del Mundo”. I personally enjoy this unit because the kiddos were able to learn a little bit about other cultural traditions such as Kwanza, Hanukkah and Christmas. For the little ones, Christmas is a magical time of the year, so this week we talked about how Christmas is not just all about receiving gifts, it’s also about doing things for others. I read the book “ Es Noche Buena” “Christmas Eve” a Mexican Christmas tradition. For Christmas eve, children often perform the “Posada” procession, then they say a prayer of thanks and they have a party with food, games and fireworks. The most traditional game is a piñata that is decorated clay or colorful paper jar filled with candies and little toys.

The kids  were very excited singing traditional Spanish Christmas songs and making crafts such as; Christmas tree, ornaments, candy canes, and Christmas wreath.
