This week (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday), children worked with activities related to Halloween. They were so exited waiting for Halloween and to dress up in their costumes. They did projects with witches, Frankenstein, and bats.
November is here and it is a perfect time for children to learn “Autumn and the five sense” “El Otoño y los cinco sentidos” Unit. Fall means colors in beautiful earth tones and lots of exploration with natural materials, so this week (Thursday and Friday) we had a little introduction about autumn. We did activities such as leaf exploration and making a leaf collage so they could explore their different colors and sizes. We read “El Otoño Llego.”
The purpose of this unit it is to introduce children to the natural environment that surrounds them and unknown spaces. Through this unit we will provide children with tools that will help them build meaningful vocabulary related to the Autumn and five senses. The purpose is to work directly with experiences, manipulation, observation, and creativity.
LETRAS
This week we continued reviewing the vowels/las vocales. Be sure to point out the vowels (A, E, I, O, U) that we practice when you are reading. We incorporated our touch investigation with the vowels, playing memory games and vowels recognition.
NÚMERO
We worked with number 5/ número cinco while doing different activities. They had a fun time playing and using different items for sorting and counting. Sorting helps children see differences and similarities. They did activities like tracing the number, a game to find the number around the classroom, counting five green triangles, and placing five stickers in the number five.
La Figura y Color
This month we started with the triangle shape (triángulo), and green (verde) color. We talked about it while the kids passed around the shape so they could examine the shape up close. They did activities such as cutting a little piece of green paper and glue it onto the larger shape.
