Science
Next week our focus will be on the life cycle of plants. Students will have a couple of lessons, a variety of books to read, and project they can work on.
Our objectives for the week:
- understand that plants are living things
- explain that seeds are the beginning of new plants
History & Geography
We will be learning about house builders; bricklayers, masons, and carpenters as well as the blacksmith next week. The class will have the opportunity to “visit” a blacksmith in his workshop, read several fiction and nonfiction books to go along with our lessons, and do a project or two.
- describe the bricklayer, mason, and carpenter in a colonial town
- describe the blacksmith in a colonial town
- explain the essential role of the blacksmith in making tools for other tradespeople
- identify, and associate with the appropriate trade, the tools used by bricklayers masons, carpenters, and blacksmiths

Students should work on the sight word list “G and H” either in Spell City or by practicing with their Robot Flash Cards
We will be on Sort 16 this week for spelling

Our learning objectives for next week are to:
- recognize and use the words of the day in oral and written sentences (era-was, después-after, muy-very)
- Read short stories fluently.
- Identify words that indicate action (verbs!)
- Solve addition and subtraction problems more fluently.
- Works with the numbers 24 and 25.(Identify how many tens and how many ones are in these numbers.)
