La Lectura
This week we will be reading about El oceano (the ocean). Our objectives will be:
- ready various books about the ocean to broaden our vocabulary (Epic! collection assignment)
- write about an ocean creature that interests you
- listen to Ms.Ivary read the book La leyenda de Nina; answer comprehension questions after reading
- focus on using correct punctuation in sentences on our Vamos a corregir and while reading with Ms.Ivary
- practice using the ready strategy Summary while reading this week
Las matemáticas
This week we will be working on Chapter 15- Calendar and Time. Our objectives will be:
- practice reading a calendar; know the seasons, days of the week, and months of the year
- practice writing the date
- use the term “o’clock” to tell the time to the hour and the term “half past” to tell the time to the half hour
- read and show the time to the hour and to the half hour on a clock
- relate time to daily activities
Science
This week we will be learning about types of rocks. I encourage you to go outside and see if you can find different types of rocks. You will have a chance to do a science experiment with dirt.
Our objectives will be to:
- identify the three types of rocks: metamorphic,
sedimentary, and igneous
- describe how heat, pressure, and time causes the formation of metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks
- understand that much of our knowledge of the earth and its history is the result of the work of many scientists
History & Geography
This week we will be finishing our unit on the History of Our Nation. We will be learning about American symbols and more on Washington, D.C. We will have a unit test on Friday.
Our objectives will be to:
- Identify the U.S. flag, the Liberty Bell, and the bald eagle
- explain the significance of the flag, the Liberty Bell and the bald eagle as U.S. symbols
- review what we have learned in this unit
