La Lectura
This week we will read about Libros y lectura (books and reading). Our objectives will be:
- ready various books about Libros y lectura to broaden our vocabulary (Epic! collection assignment)
- write about your favorite book (Who are the characters? What is the setting? What happens?)
- listen to Ms.Ivary read the book En la biblioteca; answer comprehension questions after reading
- focus on using correct spelling in sentences on our Vamos a corregir and while reading with Ms.Ivary
- practice continuing to use the ready strategy Summary while reading this week
Las matemáticas
This week we will be working on Chapter 16- Numbers to 100. Our objectives will be:
- count from 41- 100 (in English and Spanish)
- read and write numbers from 41-100
- use place value-charts to show numbers up to 100
- compare numbers to 100 using greater than, less than, and equal to
Science
This week we will be learning about ores, mines, and quarries. Students will go “mining” around their homes, looking for things that come from mines. In Brainpop Jr. we will be learning more about landforms.
Our objectives will be to:
- describe how rocks and minerals are taken from the earth
- understand that much of our knowledge of the earth and its history is the result of the work of scientist
- identify mines and quarries, as well as what is produced from them.
- review and identify different types of landforms
History & Geography
This week we will be reviewing what we have learned in our unit ‘Birth of Our Nation’. Students will be adding to pages to their History folders. We will also be creating a class book based on the book My America, the Beautiful. We will take a unit assessment on Friday.
- review what we have learned in our lessons during this unit
- answer riddles about people, events, and objects that relate to the American Revolution and the new nation
- identify the contributions of and details about George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson
