Spanish Language Arts
This week we will read about Honestidad (honesty).
Our objectives will be:
- ready various books about Honestidad to broaden our vocabulary and relate to real world examples (Epic! collection assignment)
- write about a time you had to be honest even if it was hard or scary. (What happened? Who was there? How do you feel now?)
- listen to Ms.Ivary read the book ¡No, David!; define the main idea and find supporting details after reading
- focus on using correct punctuation in sentences on our Vamos a corregir
- practice using the reading strategy main idea and details while reading this week
Matematicas
This week we will continue working on Chapter 18 Multiplication and Division.
Our objectives will be:
- use objects or pictures to find the total number of items in groups of the same size
- use objects or pictures to find the number of items in each group when sharing equally
- relate repeated addition to multiplication and relate sharing equally to division
- use objects or pictures to show division as finding the number of equal groups
Science
This week we will be learning about the fossils of La Brea Tar pits in Los Angeles as we finish up our science domain. Our activities will be doing riddles for core content and writing a letter to a paleontologist or a geologist. We will be taking our assessment on Friday.
Our objectives will be to:
- explain how fossils provide information about the history of the earth
- explain the significance of the La Brea Tar Pits
- describe how heat,
pressure, and time cause many changes inside the earth
- understand that much of our knowledge of the earth and its history is the result of the work of many scientists
History & Geography
This week Lewis and Clark begin their expedition with the Corps of Discovery. We will here how these explorers had the opportunity to accomplish two of their three tasks in our lesson this week. Our project will be to finish our ‘Expanding The West’ activity from last week
Our objectives will be to:
- locate the Mississippi River on a map
- locate the Rocky Mountains on a map
- Identify and locate the Louisiana Territory on a map
- Understand the significance of the Louisiana Territory and Purchase
- Explain the reasons that Lewis and Clark went on their expedition
- Understand that there were many, many Native American tribes living in the Louisiana Territory before the Lewis and Clark expedition
- Recall basic facts about Lewis and Clark’s encounters with Native Americans
